Icelandic Plötulopi means "unspun plates" and these lovely discs of thin roving are an unusual delight! This 100% Icelandic wool comes in 3.5 oz cakes. Since Plötulopi is an unspun yarn, it is fragile to knit; however due to the length of its fibres, it knits into a sweater that is both sturdy and soft. Plötulopi can be worked one, two, or more ply at a time, depending on how bulky a yarn you want. Gauge is quite variable and will depend on how you use it and whether you multi-strand it. Singly it is most suitable for light Sport weight patterns, doubled can work for DK, and tripled for Worsted/Aran. If dimensions matter please do a swatch! Gently wind the required number of strands together into a ball by taking the end from the center and the end from the outside of the plate, or plates. In weaving use only as weft and with caution.
