This oil gallery plug seals a drillings or passage within the engine block used to direct oil flow through the lubrication system. On the 2.25 Petrol and 200Tdi engines, these plugs are pressed or threaded into the block to close off machined oil galleries during manufacture; a failed or missing plug results in loss of oil pressure, inadequate lubrication to bearings and moving components, and potential engine damage. Correct replacement ensures oil is directed through the intended circuits at the correct pressure. Key Features Designed to seal oil gallery drillings within the engine block Should be fitted with appropriate sealant where specified to prevent seepage under pressure Matches OEM specification for the 2.25 Petrol and 200Tdi engine blocks Inspect surrounding gallery drillings and threads for damage or corrosion when replacing; multiple plugs may be present per engine Vehicle Fitment Fits Defender (1987–2006) with the 2.25 Petrol engine, and Range Rover Classic with the 200Tdi engine.
