Description Hugh Cott, Sleeping Leopard, 20th century (reworked) From the collection of the Museum of Zoology. Hugh Bamford Cott (1900-1987) was a zoologist and scientific illustra tor with particular expertise in the study of colouration and camouflage. Between 1938 and 1967 he held the position of Strickland Curator (Curator of Birds) at Cambridge University Museum of Zoology, researching and lecturing at the museum in between field trips to South America and Africa. Collections of Cott’s papers, photographs, writings, and drawings were generously donated to the museum by his grandchildren between 2015 and 2017. This print juxtaposes one of Cott's original illustrations of a very relaxed leopard with a vibrant yellow backgound, displaying the expertise of his detailed artwork to full effect. Show more
