Astronomy Photographer of the Year is an annual competition featuring the world’s greatest space photography. Photographers from across the globe compete to take home the prestigio us title. "November 3rd into the 4th, 2021 was one for the memory books! A number of solar storms hit the planet at the same time - sparking a G3 level geomagnetic storm. I drove 8 hours this night - to an area I have never been to because it was one of the only areas without complete overcast. I really wanted to showcase some landscape element as well, so I found this little puddle/rock that ended up reflecting the aurora beautifully. I also used an auto-modified camera, so there's a bit more red showing. Although with the power of this event, red was visible even in non-modded cameras. It still blew me away the amount of colours in the sky this night. I did choose to focus stack this image to get the most from the foreground elements."
