Podocarpus ‘Mood Ring’ is a tough, upright evergreen shrub with a naturally narrow growth habit, making it particularly useful for hedging where garden space is limited. Its standout feature is the bright red new growth, particularly noticeable through autumn and winter, which gradually matures to a rich deep green. Growing tall and slim, ‘Mood Ring’ provides useful screening without the broad spread of many traditional hedging plants. Its relatively slow, manageable growth also means less maintenance than more vigorous hedge options. Hardy and adaptable, ‘Mood Ring’ tolerates sun, shade, heat and frost, making it especially useful for positions where light conditions change considerably between summer and winter.
