Downoi tops out around 78°F, noticeably lower than the 82°F most of our plants tolerate. In a warm tank it stretches, loses the tight rosette form and struggles — this is the requirement most often missed. Plant rosettes an inch or two apart and let them spread. Each plant throws side shoots from the base rather than growing upward. Expect melt on arrival. It reacts to a change of conditions by dropping leaves, then rebuilds from the center. Leave it alone for two to three weeks. Feed at the roots. In inert gravel the leaves come in smaller and flatter, losing the curl that makes it worth buying.
