I have made two constructions with this title. They are serious for me. The female bird represents the lengths to which some people have to go to, not only to survive, but to help others to survive. She is not just a Pole dancer, she could be a Polish dancer. Immigrants have to turn their hands to whatever they can. (My grandparents knew this). Even in our small town, we have got to know young people who have found work of a sort and send some of their wages home to their families. The round base provided a good foundation for the selection of paint-sticks. We’ve found about twenty over ten years. All those mad colour combinations. The bird has a defiant expression.
