There's no doubt The Police lost many fans with Ghost in the Machine, the sleekness and synths had to have scared off what punk and reggae fans they had left, but they also gained many new ones as well. Mainstream pop fans found a new band to embrace when this album came out. Here The Police bust out the synths and embrace 80's production values to make a sleek 80's pop album. This could be a bad or good thing, depending whether you like 80's pop or The Police in general. Some also seem to think that Sting is getting too preachy and bombastic for his own good with his lyrics here. Show more
