Poly IP Ceiling Microphone Array – White Conference Room Mic
Product Overview The Poly IP ceiling microphone array (875S1AA) is a ceiling-mounted microphone array for medium and large conference rooms where table microphones are unwanted for aesthetic or furniture reasons. Three uni-directional hypercardioid elements with dynamic microphone steering give 360-degree pickup, covering approximately 400 sq ft per array and up to 1,200 sq ft when three arrays are deployed in one room. It is an install product rather than a plug-in accessory: the kit includes an air-return plenum-rated electronic interface module, a 50 ft plenum Ethernet cable, mounting hardware, a wall plate and a cable grommet so the electronics stay hidden above the ceiling. The array connects to the link-local network ports on a Poly G7500, Poly Studio G62 or Poly Studio X72 room system. Product Description This is a commercial-grade install microphone, and it should be specified alongside the ceiling and the codec rather than added at the end of a project. The assembly has three parts: the microphone sphere that drops below the ceiling plane on an adjustable drop, a 2 ft 6-pin mini-XLR cable assembly that connects the sphere to the electronic interface module, and the interface module itself, which is air-return plenum rated so it can be located above an acoustic tile or in a hard-ceiling void. HP supplies a 50 ft plenum-rated Ethernet cable for the run back to the rack or closet plus a 7 ft shielded CAT 5E patch, along with a wall plate and cable grommet for the terminations. Adjustable drop height is the practical advantage over a flush tile mount: setting the sphere below a deep coffer or below ductwork keeps direct line of sight to seated participants, which matters far more to intelligibility than the microphone specification itself. Compatibility is narrower than many buyers expect, and it is worth confirming before ordering. Poly's VideoOS compatibility guide lists the IP Ceiling Microphone and the IP Table Microphone as supported on the Poly G7500 codec, the Poly Studio G62 and the Studio X72, and lists them as not supported on the Studio X70, X52, X50 and X30 video bars. Any combination of up to three IP Ceiling or IP Table microphones can be connected to a supported system through its link-local network (LLN) ports, and the guide notes that a PoE injector or PoE switch is used to supply power to the microphones — so budget a powered port per microphone in the room design. Check the compatibility guide for your specific VideoOS release before finalizing a bill of materials. Coverage planning follows the 400 sq ft per array figure. A single array suits a typical medium conference room; a large boardroom, training room or divisible multi-purpose room usually takes two or three arrays positioned over the seating clusters to reach the 1,200 sq ft ceiling. Poly's Acoustic Fence and digital microphone processing work to exclude sound originating outside the intended pickup zone, which is useful in rooms with glass walls or an adjacent corridor. Where a room already has a codec-mounted array and needs only a modest extension for one end of the table, a Poly IP table microphone shares the same three-microphone limit and can be mixed with ceiling arrays on the same system. Key Features Three Hypercardioid Elements — Uni-directional elements with dynamic microphone steering deliver 360-degree pickup that follows the person speaking rather than opening the whole room. 400 sq ft Coverage per Array — One array covers a typical medium conference room, and three arrays extend coverage to approximately 1,200 sq ft in a large space. Plenum-Rated Interface Module — The electronic interface module is air-return plenum rated, so the electronics can be located above the ceiling in an air-handling space. Adjustable Drop Height — The microphone sphere can be set below deep ceilings, ductwork or coffers to keep line of sight to seated participants. Complete Install Kit — Ceiling mounting hardware, a 50 ft plenum Ethernet cable, a 7 ft shielded CAT 5E cable, a 2 ft 6-pin mini-XLR assembly, a wall plate and a cable grommet ship in the box. Acoustic Fence Processing — Poly digital microphone and Acoustic Fence technology exclude background sound originating outside the intended pickup zone. Up to Three Microphones per System — Any combination of up to three IP Ceiling or IP Table microphones connects to a supported system through its link-local network ports. White Finish — The white sphere blends with most acoustic tile and painted drywall ceilings without additional trim. It is listed as not supported on the Studio X70, X52, X50 and X30 video bars. Confirm the guide for your VideoOS release before ordering, since supported device lists change between software versions. How many arrays does a room need?Plan on roughly 400 sq ft of coverage per array. A medium conference room typically takes one, while a large boardroom or training room takes two or three positioned over the seating clusters, reaching approximately 1,200 sq ft with three. A supported system accepts any combination of up to three IP Ceiling or IP Table microphones in total. Is the product plenum rated for an air-return ceiling? The electronic interface module is air-return plenum rated and the kit ships with a 50 ft plenum-rated Ethernet cable for the run back to the rack. Confirm the full assembly against your local authority having jurisdiction and the project's mechanical drawings, since plenum requirements are set by the building, not the product. Can it be mounted in an acoustic tile ceiling or does it need a hard-ceiling drop? Both are supported. Ceiling mounting hardware, a wall plate and a cable grommet are included, and the adjustable drop height lets the sphere hang below a deep coffer, ductwork or a high hard ceiling so it retains line of sight to the table. How is the microphone powered and cabled? The microphone sphere connects to the plenum-rated interface module through the supplied 2 ft 6-pin mini-XLR assembly, and the module connects onward over Ethernet using the supplied 50 ft plenum cable and 7 ft shielded CAT 5E patch. Poly's documentation notes that a PoE injector or PoE switch supplies power, so allocate a powered port per microphone. Should I specify ceiling or table microphones for this room?Ceiling arrays keep the table clear and suit rooms with movable furniture, glass boardroom tables or a client-facing aesthetic. Table microphones cost less to install and sit closer to the talker. Both draw from the same three-microphone limit per system and can be mixed on one room system. What does the microphone do about noise from outside the room?Poly digital microphone processing and Acoustic Fence exclude sound originating outside the intended pickup zone, which helps in rooms bounded by glass or opening onto a corridor. Directional hypercardioid elements with dynamic steering also favor the person speaking over general room noise. What warranty and support are included? The array carries the Poly standard one-year limited warranty. Poly+ service agreements are available separately for extended coverage and advance hardware replacement; contact Creation Networks for the right coverage tier and for help sizing microphone count against your room drawings.
