Poly Sync 40 – USB and Bluetooth Smart Speakerphone
Product Overview The Poly Sync 40 speakerphone is a USB and Bluetooth smart speakerphone built for huddle rooms, flexible workspaces, and small conference rooms that need professio nal conferencing audio without a rack, a DSP, or a ceiling install. A three-microphone steerable array covers talkers up to 2.5 m (8 ft) from the unit, and a 50 mm driver with a bass reflex system and dual passive radiators produces 89 dB SPL of intelligible speech. Part number 772C4AA is the standard unified communications build: Zoom certified, and compatible with any softcodec over USB Type-A, USB Type-C, or Bluetooth 5.1. An internal rechargeable battery provides up to 30 hours of talk time, so the unit can serve rooms and flexible spaces that have no dedicated power drop at the table. Product Description The Sync 40 sits between a personal speakerphone and an installed room system, which is exactly the requirement in most huddle rooms and four-to-six-person meeting spaces. Deployment is a single pass: connect the attached cable to a room PC or a user laptop using either the USB Type-A or USB Type-C termination, or pair over Bluetooth 5.1 at ranges up to 30 m. The three-microphone steerable array focuses on the active talker while echo cancellation and noise reduction keep HVAC rumble, keyboard noise, and corridor traffic out of the far-end mix. Full-duplex audio keeps both sides audible when two people talk at once, which is the practical difference between a commercial-grade conference speakerphone and a consumer device. For a longer table or an all-hands overflow space, two Sync 40 units pair wirelessly to each other to double microphone coverage and speaker output, which is often cheaper and faster than re-cabling a room. IT teams handle firmware, configuration, and inventory through Poly Lens device management, so a fleet of units deployed across a campus stays on a single firmware baseline. Where an individual needs the same experience at a desk or a hotelling station, the Poly Sync 20 personal speakerphone is the smaller sibling; where a medium conference room needs six microphones and twin speakers, step up to the Poly Sync 60. A bring-your-own-device huddle room that also needs video pairs the Sync 40 with a Poly Studio P5 USB webcam for a two-cable room build. Specify this SKU when the organization runs mixed platforms or standardizes on Zoom. Sites standardizing on Microsoft Teams should order the Teams-certified variant instead, which carries a dedicated Teams button on the control surface: see the Poly Sync 40 Microsoft Teams certified model (77P35AA), or the Poly Sync 40+ with BT700 adapter (77P36AA) when wireless connection to a computer is required. All three share the same acoustic platform, so mixing them across a building does not change the audio experience for end users. Key Features Three-Microphone Steerable Array — Focuses pickup on the active talker up to 2.5 m (8 ft) from the unit so a full huddle table is covered from one device. Echo and Noise Reduction — Keeps room noise, HVAC, and keyboard clatter out of the transmitted audio without gating the channel and clipping speech. Full-Duplex Audio — Allows both ends of the call to talk simultaneously without either side dropping out, so conversations do not have to be taken in turns. 50 mm Driver with Dual Passive Radiators — Delivers 89 dB SPL across a 75 Hz to 20 kHz range for natural voice reproduction in a small room. USB-A and USB-C Connection — Ships with both cable types so the same unit works with legacy room PCs and current USB-C laptops without an adapter purchase. Bluetooth 5.1 with 30 m Range — Pairs with up to eight devices and supports A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP, and BLE profiles for mobile and BYOD use. Up to 30 Hours of Talk Time — A rechargeable lithium-ion battery recharges in under five hours, letting the unit serve rooms with no table power. Wireless Pairing of Two Units — Two Sync 40 speakerphones link to each other for wider microphone coverage and more output on a longer table. Poly Lens Device Management — Gives IT remote firmware updates, configuration, and inventory reporting across a deployed fleet. Zoom Certified — Validated by Zoom for use as a room and personal audio device, and compatible with other UC applications over standard USB audio. For a longer table, pair two units wirelessly, or specify the Poly Sync 60 with its six-microphone array and 3 m (10 ft) pickup range. Does the Sync 40 need a Bluetooth dongle to connect to a computer? Not for a wired connection. This SKU ships with a combined USB Type-A and USB Type-C cable and appears to the host as a standard USB audio device. If you need a wireless connection to a desktop or a room PC that lacks reliable native Bluetooth, order the Poly Sync 40+ (77P36AA), which includes the BT700 USB-A Bluetooth adapter. Which conferencing platforms does it work with?Part number 772C4AA is Zoom certified. Because the wired connection presents as a standard USB audio device, it also works with Microsoft Teams, Webex, Google Meet, and other softcodecs. If Microsoft Teams is the corporate standard and users want a dedicated Teams button on the device, specify 77P35AA or 77P36AA instead. Can two units be linked for a larger table?Yes. Two Sync 40 speakerphones pair wirelessly to each other, doubling the microphone coverage and total speaker output. This is a practical way to extend an existing huddle room to a longer table without running new cable or adding an audio DSP. How does this fit into an existing AV system? The Sync 40 is a self-contained USB audio peripheral, so it connects to a room PC, an OPS module in a display, or a user laptop with no DSP, amplifier, or matrix required. In rooms that already have an installed codec or a video bar with its own microphones, use the Sync 40 as the audio device for BYOD mode rather than in parallel with the room system, to avoid two microphone sources in the same space. How do IT teams manage a fleet of these units?Poly Lens provides remote firmware updates, device configuration, and inventory reporting. Standardizing on one Sync 40 firmware baseline across a campus keeps behavior consistent for users who move between rooms, and reduces support calls after a platform update. How long does the battery last and how is the unit charged? The internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 hours of talk time and recharges in under five hours. The unit charges over its USB connection while plugged into a host or a USB power source, so a room PC connection keeps it topped up between meetings. What warranty and support are included? The Sync 40 carries the Poly standard two-year limited warranty. Poly+ service agreements offering extended coverage, advance hardware replacement, and technical support are available separately; contact Creation Networks for the coverage tier that matches your deployment size.
