Painting Instructions Polyurethane is not UV-resistant. Apply a protective coating after 1–2 years of sun exposure. Lightly sand the surface before painting for better adhesion. A properly applied coating lasts up to 10 years. Potential Disadvantages Unpainted hives may peel over time and have a shorter lifespan. Minor imperfections or bubbles do not affect the hive's functionality and are not considered defects.
