Even though everyone else is willing to let the team die, Will Clark, "the voice of the Possums," refuses to give up on the team. When the town votes to disband the team, Will begins announcing imaginary "radio play" games, which the Possums win. But after Will's made-up team wins the state tournament, the real state champs show up and challenge the Possums to a game. Fired up by their imaginary wins, the Possums come together and accept the challenge.
