Introducing the Percussion Play cajon drum Based on the cajon drum, originating from Peru and meaning ‘box’ or ‘crate’, these drums differ from the traditional plywood build as they are made from etched stainless steel – perfect for year-round outdoor use. Responsive and easy to play with an in-built snare at the top and a low bass sound around the middle, the Cajon drum is perfect for impromptu outdoor street performances. Important Note: Cajons should be positioned to minimize sun exposure, either underneath shade or at an angle facing away from the sun. Ideal for street scenes and less supervised areas where other outdoor musical instruments would not stand up to the harsh environment, the cajon is durable and also doubles as a seating solution. Easy to play, the bells ‘sing’ when struck. The sound produced by the bell lyre is two-fold: the strike notes and the resonance. The bells range from 100mm to 290mm, and each bell emits its own sound, with sweet gentle tones from the bells at the top and deep, sonorous ‘gong-like’ sounds from the bottom bells. Surface mounted vs Ground install There are two ways to install this Percussion Play product: Surface mounted The leg is attached to a base plate, which is then fixed into the ground using anchors. This provides a brilliant level of stability, whilst making it possible to move the product around with relative ease. Ground install The leg is directly embedded into the ground, providing excellent, long-lasting stability. However, once placed, the instrument will be very hard to move - perfect for permanent installations. Installation instructions included below.
