A young Peregrine Falcon is perched on a branch just above its cliffside nest along the southern Pacific Coast. Because it is not yet ready for flight and does not have the ability to feed itself, much of the day is spent practicing. During this time the parents bring food to the very vocal young. Once the ability to fly has been achieved the parents encourage the flights by only doing food exchanges in the air. Being hungry is a great motivator for the young falcons. Show more
