Crafted with upcycled fabric sourced directly from our Eco Fabric Boutique, each pair of pants feels and flows like a dream. THE Pants have pockets on either side, and can be hemmed at various lengths based on your preference. Each pant contains an EcoEquitable label sewn inside. Various body sizes available from XS-4XL. Pick-up at our shop only (no shipping available, yet!) at 404 McArthur Avenue, Ottawa. About Your Sewist Mercedes Ventura is a local Odawa/Ottawa artist and dressmaker. She completed the Sewing for Jobs Program Level 2 in 2023 and holds a bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa. A proponent of slow fashion, Mercedes believes in using what she has on hand or sourcing locally to create a quality product that doesn’t compromise style or comfort. She enjoys creating both fun costume designs as well as day to day loungewear. FAQs Q: Can I choose what fabric my pants are made from? A: Yes - once you pre-order a pair of THE Pants, Mercedes will be in touch with you to book a time to shop at EcoEquitable's Eco Fabric Boutique and select your desired fabric from our wide selection. Q: When can I pick up my order? A: This won't feel like your typical Amazon next-day-delivery-order. Once a pair of pants are pre-ordered through our website, Mercedes will get to work with your order. The finish date is approximately 3-5 weeks. Please note we are dropping 5 pairs - the order in which folks purchase will determine the order in which they are completed and delivered. Once it's ready for pick-up, you will be notified by email! Q: How did you arrive at the final cost of THE Pants? A: The purpose of the pre-order project is not to compete with mass production and fast fashion prices, that fuel overconsumption while [predominately] women textile workers receive unacceptable wages. The cost of THE Pants reflects the true cost of labour invested into making a quality product, with the proceeds going back directly into the pockets of local women we serve through our sewing programs. The reality: sewing takes time, and women deserve to make a living wage for their time, skills, and expertise. When women are empowered to succeed, communities thrive.
