These squares are beautifully machined from S50C carbon tool steel. They are shipped from the factory with a protective layer of oil applied. While this needs to be removed before use, we recommend storing the squares in its box or in a location where it can't accumulate dust. If left unprotected for long periods of time, these squares may be susceptible to rust. These squares are precision tools manufactured by Shinwa to specific tolerances. If it should not meet these tolerances, it is covered by a factory warranty. Please note that rough handling or dropping of the tool would void this warranty. We have found this small square excellent for the setting and checking of machinery fences and blades, and as a master square which can be used to check other squares against in the shop. Its weight makes it impractical for every-day use as a woodworking try square, though its heavy base helps it to stand upright easily for use with flat reference planes. 150mm Long Arm: 150 x 24 x 3mm | Base: 100 x 21 x 17mm This model's tolerance to square is +/-12μm along its blade. 200mm Long Arm: 200 x 29 x 4mm | Base: 130 x 24 x 20mm This model's tolerance to square is +/-22μm along its blade.
