Originally released in 1985, Steve McQueen is the acclaimed second album by Prefab Sprout. There is no escaping the unmistakable 80s character of the synths and Paddy McAloon's eff ortlessly cool vocals, but that's precisely part of the album's enduring appeal. The band—comprising brothers Paddy and Martin McAloon, Wendy Smith on keyboards and backing vocals, and Neil Conti on drums—created one of the defining records of the decade. The name Prefab Sprout was one Paddy made up when he was just 14 years old. Over the following two decades, the band released a string of acclaimed albums, with their biggest hit coming in "The King of Rock 'n' Roll"—the unforgettable "Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque!"
