They remind us that the past is understood through learning, and the present is understood through cultivation. This gives us a grasp of the future and releases us from apprehension. Shakyamuni Buddha guides all beings to practice compassion through their actions, words and intentions. With boundless artfulness and intelligibility in his prose, he enlightens all beings to understand the truth and enter Buddhism, and he guides people in the present to realize the true meaning of Buddha-Dharma.
