Carved by the crashing waves of the Tasman Sea it has the most dramatic rock formations carved by erosion and much time. Found close by is the other natural formations the Tasman Arch and Blow Hole. Why is it called Devils kitchen? Several theories exist on how it got its name! One is due to the higher than normal number of sharks in the area preying on sea lions and seals which got caught in the narrow passage of water, with the animals shrieks echoing between the cliffs. The second theory is that pirates had killed and abandoned bodies there which ere eaten by Tasmanian Devils.
