Incentive Create printed patterns with paint. -Line-Shape-Space-Colour-Texture Supplies Art paper Paint Paintbrush Crayons Markers Collection of small objects to use for printing (glue stick, toy wheels, sponge shapes etc.) Lesson 1 Paint black lines across art paper and allow to dry. 2 Use brightly coloured paints to print sponge geometric shapes, (they can be animal sponges, or flower sponges). Ensure there is lots of paint on the sponge just before it is printed so the colour is dark and brilliant. Allow to dry. 3 Trace all outlines that have been printed in black crayon. 4 Display with facts about geometric shapes. 5 Paint thick vertical lines using two different colours. These should be bright, but not too dark, to enable other colours to work on them. 6 Cover collected objects with contrasting colour paint and print onto paper. Layering of printing is recommended, i.e. a smaller object printed on top of a larger one in two different colours. 7 The printing on rows one, three, five etc., should be the same all along the paper. The printing on rows two, four, six etc., should also be the same all along the paper. 8 When dry, highlight boundaries of rows with a dark marker or crayon. 9 Display all children’s creations in mass for a brilliant, colourful gallery.
