A private lesson is the opportunity to take everything I’ve explored across decades of performing, recording, touring and teaching, and apply it directly to your playing. My YouTube lessons, courses and catalogue of more than 20 instructional books have helped musicians around the world develop their technique, improvisation, harmony, ear training, transcription skills and approach to practice. But even the most detailed teaching material is still designed for a broad audience. You have to determine which concepts are relevant to you, identify what may be holding you back and work out how to incorporate the information into your own playing. A one-on-one lesson is a significant step beyond that experience. Instead of watching a 15-minute video and trying to decipher how it applies to you, we can work together in real time. I can listen to your playing, answer your questions, identify specific areas for improvement and help you turn the right concepts into a practical course of action. The lesson is shaped around your goals, your current level and the kind of musician you want to become. Topics can include technique, improvisation, harmony, rhythm, ear training, pedalboard building and equipment, transcription, fretboard knowledge, practice strategy, composition, developing your own musical voice, preparing for performances or navigating the professional side of a career in music. We can also work directly with material from any of my books, courses or YouTube lessons and explore it in greater depth. Whether you have a specific challenge to solve or want a broader assessment of your playing and practice routine, you’ll leave with clear, personalized guidance and a better understanding of what to work on next. Lessons are conducted remotely and are available as a single session or as a discounted four-lesson package for students who want to build momentum over a longer period. When purchasing a 4-lesson package, the lessons must be used within a 6-month period, you will be able to schedule your first lesson before checkout, and subsequent lessons will be scheduled manually based on your schedule.
