Process learning is a concept that emphasizes the how, rather than the what. It encourages learners to try without fear of failure and provides educators with greater opportunities to promote higher-level thinking and problem-solving skills. Process Learning: It's Not About the Product, It's About the Journey provides beginning educators with a complete introduction to process learning as a teaching methodology. Readers learn how a shift from leader to facilitator in the classroom can empower students to become more active participants in their learning experiences. Rooted in research-based ideologies, the guide provides the rationale for integrating process learning in the classroom and instructional strategies for its implementation. It discusses the use of small groups and questioning techniques and provides tips for creating a learning environment conducive to teacher and student success. Vignettes and reflection opportunities throughout the text simulate real-world scenarios, spark meaningful conversation, and enrich the learning experience for readers. The second edition features four new chapters. Chapters 7 and 8 explore integrated content and science, literacy, and art integration. Chapters 9 and 10 discuss the interdisciplinary nature of STEM and the importance of play-based learning in early childhood education. Concise and informative, Process Learning is an ideal supplementary textbook for courses and programs in elementary education and teacher preparation. Show more
