Working alongside figures like Arthur B. Davies and Jerome Myers, he developed a feverish, high-keyed palette that pushed his urban scenes and pastoral fantasies toward the visionary. His 1911 procession paintings, with their swirling crowds and saturated hues, anticipate the Synchromists by several years.
