Carrying the lineage of various eras of Japanese pop music, the three-member co-ed band Lamp has blended elements of '70s pop and Brazilian music to elevate their sound into a fresh new form of pop. “Tokyo Utopia Tsushin”, the band's sixth album, paints a landscape of the emotional silhouettes of men and women who pass by each other in some unnamed town. The cold and warmth of winter as a season and the nostalgic sensations everyone has experienced at least once in their lives are vividly evoked. The album jacket features illustrations by Ouji Suzuki, a major influence on young artists in the 1970s through the cult manga magazine Garo and known for works such as “Otobai Shoujo”. His unique, fantastical visuals resonate perfectly with Lamp’s sound, crafting a magical world of its own.
