This set is the first of an annual release of Australia's circulating coins struck in proof form by the Royal Australian Mint. The set consists of six coins : One Cent Two Cents Five Cents Ten Cents Twenty Cents Round Silver Fifty Cents (Light obverse tone) A total of 18,110 proof sets were released the six coins being housed unsealed in a blue hinged lid presentation case. Because the coins in the set were not sealed, storage in other than optimum conditions has resulted in a significant proportion of 1966 proof sets containing toned coins particularly the bronze 1 and 2 cent pieces and the round silver 50 cent coin. These perfect condition sets have coins free from spots and fingerprints. It is difficult to find a pristine quality set with unimpaired coins.
