Prunus pendula 'Pendula Rubra' has an elegant weeping form that in March-April becomes coated in a profusion of carmine pink flowers. The single pink flowers are excellent pollinators for bees. Mid-green ovate foliage turns fiery shades of orange and red in the autumn before falling. A very small weeping cherry, Prunus pendula 'Pendula Rubra' will grow to a height and spread of just 3 x 3 metres in 20 years. This makes it is well suited to limited spaces and container growing. 'Pendula Rubra' is also tolerant of pollution, can cope with some exposure and will do well in most well-drained soils, although it's best to avoid shallow, chalky conditions.
