Prusa is the secure option 95% of desktop 3D printers sold are made by Chinese companies. Prusa is the remaining 5%. Does origin matter? Yes. All Chinese companies are required to cooperate with state intelligence (National Intelligence Law, 2017), hand over encryption keys (Cryptography Law, 2020), and provide data to authorities regardless of where it's stored - even on EU or US servers (Data Security Law, 2021). Product designs and 3D models a legitimate target too (2023 Counter-Espionage Law update). "There is a real risk that data on prints, design models, or production processes could be transmitted to servers beyond the user’s control, including to the territory of the PRC." — National Cyber and Information Security Agency, 2025 HT90 is TAA compliant, which is required for US government and federal contractor purchases. Switching to injection molding would increase weight and tooling costs – making it a non-starter." Will Hasting Co-founder and CEO, Angel Aerial Systems Angel Aerial Systems Drones built to save lives, parts built in-house Angel Aerial Systems produces unique drones for critical, life-saving missions — achieving 2 hours of hover time, three to six times longer than traditional quadcopters. That level of performance requires continuous structural and thermal optimization. With traditional manufacturing, each design change means a quote, lead time, and delivery delay. With the HT90, it means a file update and an overnight print. As the CEO Will Hasting puts it: 'We've run hundreds of design iterations, it would have taken years and cost exponentially more with traditional manufacturing.' The HT90 lets a small team iterate at a pace that would otherwise be difficult to sustain. 3D-printed structural parts enable rapid iteration on life-saving drone designs. Securing your data is our top priority In high-stakes industries such as aerospace, defense, and advanced R&D, data security is a core requirement. The HT90 is built to keep your intellectual property under your control. Full offline operation The HT90 can run fully offline for setup, slicing, and printing, with a physically disconnectable Wi-Fi module. No mandatory telemetry and no forced cloud activation. IP stays in-house Your design files, process parameters, and print history never leave your facility unless you choose to send them. With the high-flow head: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, TPE, PEBA, PA, PC, and carbon/glass-fiber composites. With the high-temp head and 90 °C chamber: small to mid-sized parts with PEEK, PEKK, PPSU, PSU, and PEI (Ultem). Both heads use Revo nozzles for fast swapping. Can the HT90 print PEI (Ultem)? PEI (Ultem) is printable on the HT90, but with important caveats. The 90 °C chamber is below PEI's glass transition temperature (217 °C), so larger parts may be more prone to warping or adhesion issues. Best results come from small to mid-sized geometries with careful process tuning. For higher repeatability in PEI at scale, systems with hotter chambers may be more appropriate. The HT90's strongest high-temp material is typically PC-CF. Can Prusa Pro HT90 really print PEEK? PEEK follows a similar logic to PEI on this machine. While the 500 °C nozzle easily handles the melt, the 90 °C chamber is below PEEK’s glass transition temperature (143 °C). This means that while the HT90 is excellent for small to mid-sized PEEK components, larger geometries may experience warping or internal stress. For users requiring massive, high-volume PEEK production at scale, a dedicated high-temp oven system might be more suitable. What is the difference between the high-flow and high-temp print heads? The high-flow head (up to 300 °C) is optimized for speed — PLA, PETG, ASA, ABS, TPU, carbon composites. It uses a standard Revo Ø0.4 mm nozzle. The high-temp head (up to 500 °C) is designed for engineering polymers — PC-CF, PEEK, PEKK, PEI, PSU. It uses a hardened Revo Ø0.6 mm nozzle. Switching takes seconds thanks to a magnetic connection, but requires the printer to be powered off. The high-temp head prints slower due to the higher thermal requirements of the materials. How does delta kinematics compare to CoreXY? In a delta printer, only the print head moves — the bed stays fixed. This means higher acceleration without the bed-ringing artifacts that appear in CoreXY machines at high speeds. Combined with Input Shaper, the HT90 achieves 250 mm/s with exceptional dimensional accuracy. Three loadcell sensors ensure perfect first-layer adhesion regardless of bed thermal expansion. Do I need to vent the printer or build a dedicated enclosure? No. The integrated HEPA and activated-carbon filtration handles particulates and VOCs produced when printing high-temperature materials. The HT90 is designed to run in a normal engineering office or lab environment without dedicated exhaust infrastructure. How do I keep PEEK and PEI filament dry enough to print? These materials absorb moisture quickly and will produce brittle, porous parts if printed wet. The Prusa Filament Drybox feeds the printer hermetically during printing. For pre-print drying, the Memmert UF30 laboratory oven handles temperatures up to 300 °C with precise control. Budget approximately $1,400 for the oven and $200 for the drybox — both are available from Prusa as accessories. How does the price compare to other PEEK-capable printers? The HT90 starts at $11,999 fully assembled. Comparable PEEK-capable platforms often start around $30,000–$50,000, and many include annual service costs. A realistic HT90 setup with a lab oven, drybox, and UPS is often around $14,000 — still substantially below many alternatives. How does the HT90 compare to the Bambu Lab X1E? The Bambu Lab X1E (~$1,500) is a system for engineering materials like PPS-CF and PPA-CF, but it cannot print PEEK, PEKK, or PEI — its hotend is around ~300 °C and the chamber is around ~60 °C passively. If your workflow genuinely requires high-performance polymers such as PC-CF, PC-GF, PEEK or PEKK for aerospace, medical, or defense applications, the HT90 is one of the few options near this price band.
