Psilomelane Raw Psilomelane are the barium manganese hydroxides that do not create visible crystals. Psilomelane is an opaque stone with colors that vary from blue black, steel gra y, to iron black. Psilomelane is also known as Black Malachite, and Hollandite. Newly discovered and only found on the island of Madagascar, and in Alaska, Psilomelane is a volcanic black stone with grey mottling and can be polished to a high shine. When held up to sunlight, one can notice the greys having violet iridescence that is quite unique.
