Launched by the Orient Steam Navigation Company in 1934, the RMS Orion featured a modern interior design with the first air-conditioned public rooms on a British liner; she provided first class and tourist class passenger services from Europe to Australia via the Pacific Ocean; during World War Two she served as a troop ship; the Orion was retired in 1963, broken for scrap after being used as a floating hotel for a horticulture exhibition.
