Puja's father took her to a child trafficker and sold her for an insignificant sum. The trafficker sedated Puja with an injection, and when she woke up she was with people she'd ne ver seen before. They told her she had been sold to them, and she now had to work or be killed. The conditions were impossible to bear. She couldn't imagine how the older women in the quarry had survived.
