Pukeko live in permanent social groups and defend a shared territory which is used for both feeding and breeding. They can be seen in their groups near any swampy areas or drains e specially if there is open pasture near by. As a group they lay their eggs in one nest and all of the resulting offspring are raised by the entire family. Ana Lee Bergius is an artist living and working in the Catlins, New Zealand.
