Sealed shut, so it can go where other sensors can't. Most environment sensors have a small vent in the housing. It's how they read humidity — and it's also the first thing to fail around water, steam and spray. The RuuviTag Pro 2in1 has no vent at all. The housing is completely sealed, rated IP68 and IP69K, and tested to 50 metres of depth. It handles rain, hose-down, steam, splash and immersion, then keeps reporting temperature to within a tenth of a degree. Sealing it means giving up humidity readings. That's the trade, and it's the right one for anywhere wet. Put it on a line, leave it, lift it out and sync ten days of readings. We'd rather tell you that up front than have you find out after it's underwater.
