Want to experience the thrill of glassblowing and make your very own pumpkin? This one-hour class is the perfect introduction to the magic of working with molten glass. Working side-by-side with a highly skilled artist as your instructor, you will assist in creating a beautiful blown-glass ornament. Here’s how it works: Come into the hot shop and the instructor will explain each step. Choose your colours and assist the instructor as they gather and shape the molten glass. With the instructor’s guidance, you’ll assist in shaping the piece using the foot pedal to inflate it with air. (For health and safety, we currently use an air system instead of blowing directly into the pipe.) You will watch your pumpkin get reheated, and removed from the pipe. Then, the instructor will gather new molten glass for the stem, roll it in the stem color, reheat it and attach it to your pumpkin. (This is the fun curly step!) Finally, your pumpkin will then be placed into the kiln to cool overnight. When it’s not your turn, you can help out as needed or simply sit back and enjoy seeing each piece take shape. 1 hour class $85 + hst per pumpkin max 4 / class no experience necessary must be 15 years or older This is a seasonal item typically offered in the autumn, but it’s available year-round in the (one)hour (two)gether (four)you class.
