Cover pots with cling film and place in warmth at 15–18 °C. As seedlings develop, remove cling film and grow on under cool, light conditions, but not in direct sunlight. Keep moist.Planting OutGradually acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out in cropping positions, allowing 90 cm between plants, after risk of frost has passed. Water and feed regularly.Sowing OutdoorsWater sowing positions, then sow two or three seeds close together in a group 2 cm deep, allowing 90 cm between each group. After germination, leave only the strongest seedling in each group. Keep well watered in dry spells.AftercareSquashes are thirsty and hungry plants. Water freely and frequently, especially during dry spells. Once fruits start to swell, feed plants regularly with a liquid fertiliser. Grow and ripen best in full sun.
