The figure is Hand-carved in our studio by us, the master craftsmen of Nepal, the centuries-old Buddhist Himalayan craft of creating sacred sculptures. Carved from a copper body, gilded with triple layer 24k genuine gold, deeply engraved carvings, and acrylic paint to highlight the intricate design patterns of the statue. The deity is depicted seated on the top of a moon disc lotus seat, having a serene facial expression. He is holding a vajra with his right hand and a bell on his left. According to Kukai's writings in Record of the Dharma Transmission, Nagarjuna encountered Vajrasatva in an iron tower in southern India, based on Amoghavajra's testimony. As recounted in the Mahavairocana Sutra, Vajrasatva inducted Nagarjuna into the abhiseka ceremony and entrusted him with the esoteric teachings he had gained from Vairocana Buddha. Kukai doesn't go into detail on Vajrasatva or his beginnings.
