Clinical Summary: Byra PURIFY Biotic Cleanser is a non-foaming facial cleanser containing a proprietary pre- and postbiotic blend designed to cleanse the skin surface while preserv ing and actively supporting the cutaneous microbiome. Formulated and manufactured in Sweden under EWG VERIFIED® standards, the product avoids sulphate surfactants, artificial fragrance, and antimicrobial preservatives that disrupt commensal bacterial populations, making it clinically appropriate for sensitive, compromised, microbiome-dysbiosed, or post-procedure skin; available for clinical and retail procurement in Singapore through EMIS Asia. Product Overview Byra PURIFY Biotic Cleanser represents a scientific advance in facial cleansing technology developed by Byra Beauty (Sweden). Unlike conventional cleansers that strip both sebum and commensal bacteria with sulphate-based or high-pH surfactants, PURIFY employs mild amphiphilic cleansing agents at skin-compatible pH combined with prebiotic substrates that selectively nourish beneficial cutaneous bacteria (particularly Lactobacillus and Staphylococcus epidermidis communities) and postbiotic ferments that deposit antimicrobial peptide precursors and organic acids onto the skin surface. The skin microbiome — comprising an estimated 10^12 micro-organisms across 1,000 species — plays a central role in barrier function, pH maintenance, immune education, and protection against pathogenic colonisation. Disruption of this ecosystem (dysbiosis) is mechanistically linked to acne vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, rosacea, and accelerated barrier ageing. Clinical data from probiotic skincare research (Grice & Segre, Nature Reviews Microbiology, 2011; Cinque et al., 2019) supports topical pre- and postbiotic application as a modality for restoring cutaneous eubiosis. PURIFY's non-foaming format avoids the dehydrating effect of anionic sulphate surfactants — particularly important in Singapore's air-conditioned environment where ambient humidity below 60% indoors increases TEWL risk after cleansing. Probiotics are live micro-organisms — rarely stable in rinse-off cosmetic formats. Postbiotics are bioactive by-products of bacterial fermentation, including short-chain fatty acids, bacteriocins, and organic acids, delivering the functional benefits of beneficial bacteria without requiring live organism viability. PURIFY uses pre- and postbiotics rather than probiotics, ensuring shelf stability and consistent efficacy across Singapore's ambient temperature range. Q: Why does non-foaming cleansing matter for skin microbiome health?A: High-foam cleansers rely on anionic surfactants (SLS, SLES) that operate at pH 7–9, significantly above skin's natural pH of 4.5–5.5. This pH disruption impairs serine protease activity maintaining barrier cohesion and selectively disadvantages acid-tolerant commensals such as Staphylococcus epidermidis. Non-foaming cleansing at near-physiological pH — as used in PURIFY — preserves microbiome composition while achieving adequate lipid and pollutant removal, as validated by independent microbiome characterisation studies (Lambers et al., International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2006). Q: Is this cleanser effective enough for makeup removal in Singapore's climate?A: PURIFY Biotic Cleanser is designed for daily skin cleansing and light makeup removal. Patients wearing heavy or waterproof cosmetics may benefit from a separate oil-based first cleanse (double-cleansing method) prior to PURIFY as a second cleanse — recommended for Singapore patients using SPF 50+ sunscreen daily. Q: How is Byra PURIFY different from a standard pharmacy gentle cleanser?A: Standard gentle cleansers use mild anionic or amphoteric surfactants but lack microbiome-active ingredients. PURIFY's prebiotic substrate and postbiotic ferment filtrate technology represent a new category of biotic cleansing validated in dermatological research on microbiome-linked skin conditions. Byra's EWG VERIFIED® certification provides independent ingredient-safety validation beyond typical pharmacy-brand labelling. Q: Can Singapore dermatology clinics order Byra PURIFY for clinic dispensary?A: Yes. EMIS Asia supplies Byra Beauty products to medical aesthetic clinics, dermatology practices, and hospital pharmacies across Singapore on institutional pricing terms. Product safety data sheets, EWG verification documentation, and full ingredient disclosure certificates are available on request for formulary or procurement committee approval processes in compliance with Singapore HSA guidelines. Why Buy From EMIS+ Nurse-led expertise — guidance from healthcare professionals who understand clinical needs.
