In striking contrast to other asparagus plants- the Purple Passion is dark blue in color, bordering on merlot in hue. The individual pants grow straight upright and ripen in Mid- M ay. The flavor is nuttier and sweeter than other asparagus plants but will lose the purple hue when cooled. The Purple Passion is mostly males but can include a female crown. Crowns come in packs of 5 and are 1 year old plants.
