Selection of Planting Site: Gem avocado trees thrive in warm climates, ideally USDA zones 9–11, although they can also be grown in large containers indoors in colder regions. Choose a location with well-draining soil to prevent waterlogging, as avocados are susceptible to root rot. Ensure the site receives full sunlight for optimal growth and fruit production. Planting Process: Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball of the avocado tree. Gently remove the tree from its container, being careful not to disturb the roots excessively. Place the tree in the center of the hole and backfill with soil, pressing down firmly to eliminate air pockets. Water thoroughly to settle the soil around the roots. Watering and Maintenance: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during the tree's establishment phase. Mulch around the base of the tree to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize regularly with a balanced fertilizer formulated for fruit trees, following package instructions.
