Tasting Note Producer Pyros is a collection of unusual and exclusive wines from Argentina, with all of the grapes for these wines coming only from the Pedernal Valley (an isolated canyon in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in the San Juan province). Viticulturist and Vineyard Manager, Gustavo Maticq is a native of this area and has returned, after completing his studies in numerous international countries, to explore his native provice and find the best places to grow grapes. He continues to add to his international reputation through writing published articled in leading journals and sharing his knowledge through teaching at the University of Cuyo in Mendoza. Matocq is aided in his work by a highly dedicated team on the farm, lead by farm manager Fernando Javier Atencio, also a native of the area, who brings both passion and enthusiasm to Pyros. It is winemaker Paula Gonzalez who is responsible for turning the grapes here into wine. She continues to deepen her knowledge of the Pyros Vineyard territory in the Pedernal Valley. With the added perspective of winemaker Paul Hobbs, who serves as a consultant at Pyros, an additional palate and passion sweeps through the team.
