The step deck allows for as much volume as possible under the chest without creating boxy unresponsive rails. This extra volume in the deck also allows for more stability under your feet which combined with the sensitivity of the rails allows for excellent turning. The deck also features a slight concave to ensure the volume is in the right places without hindering performance. When it comes to sizing you should aim for a board that is around your height or a few inches above or below. (depending on your ability of course) Don't be put off by the width measurements which are not typical due to the step deck, instead aim for your typical volume range.
