Among the multitude of games the Jaques fam ily have invented over our 215 year history - to name but a few, Happy Families, Ludo, Tiddly Winks, Snakes and Ladders - it is perhaps Ping Pong that can be counted as our most successful. Originally marketed by Jaques as 'Gossima', it attracted little attention from the public. However, John Jaques III saw the potential in the game, and rechristened it Ping Pong, after the noise the balls make during a game. His entrepreneurial instinct was correct: in 1902-03 the game of Ping Pong swept the country, and it soon developed into a fully fledged sport, with clubs and tournaments appearing all over the world. Ping Pong, or Table Tennis as it is often called nowadays, is an Olympic sport played by over 300 million people worldwide. Jaques have continued to develop and innovate to keep pace with the meteoric popularity of the game, and we can count ourselves among the finest manufacturers of Ping Pong equipment - our tables have been used at more National, European and World Championships than any other manufacturers.
