An excellent example of equant, well developed, glassy, double-terminated Quartz crystals included with disseminated Specular Hematite (Specularite), from the Frizington mining are a of west Cumbria, England. The highly lustrous, stubby Quartz crystals average 1.5 cm along their terminated edges. The Quartz sits on a bed of micro-Specular black Hematite covering a thin matrix plate of greyish-white Quartz on top of remnant, shell-like layers of brick-red Hematite. The Quartz crystals are so heavily included with Specularite it makes them appear almost jet black. Show more
