Once the weather turns a bit brisk and the season changes to fall, I can’t get enough of cozy scents. My candles, wax melts, lotions, and soaps smell of something sweet mixed with a touch of spice. I recently spent a cozy day at home and felt the urge to make some soap, as it’s been a while since I’ve made any. As luck would have it, I had everything I needed to make these easy mulled spice soaps. I enjoyed the end result so much that I also packaged up a few to share with a friend. To make these soaps, start by cutting your soap base into small cubes using a soap cutter. I used Goat's Milk, but any white melt-and-pour soap base should work for this project. Place the soap cubes into a glass measuring cup and microwave in 30-second bursts until the base is completely melted. Add 15 drops each of cinnamon leaf essential oil and sweet orange essential oil, and 10 drops of clove essential oil. Stir to combine. Spray a soap mold with rubbing alcohol, and then pour the soap into the mold. If desired, sprinkle ground cinnamon and dried orange peel onto the soap before it begins to set. Let soap set overnight, and remove from the mold. To package the soaps, place a few in a jar with a lid. Wrap torn fabric around the lid, thread the fabric through a dried orange slice, and tie the fabric in a knot to secure.
