To maintain absorbency, wash and dry the mat completely every 10 to 20 days. For a deeper clean, apply a little vinegar, baking soda, or hydrogen peroxide and scrub gently. One of our pot scrub brushes works well for clearing out the pores. If absorbency drops off, sand a thin layer from the surface with fine grit sandpaper to refresh it. Please note: Wet sand only. Keep the dish and sandpaper wet the whole time. Avoid breathing the dust. Never use greasy cleaning products, as oils can stain the stone. Deep stains may need bleach to lift.
