Quickbeam is a seamless top-down, V-neck cardigan with saddle shoulders and interesting twisty details running over the shoulders and down the top of the sleeves. It's designed to fit quite neatly, making it perfect as a cosy handknit layer for winter, a lighter knit for keeping warm in autumn or worn open over a dress during the spring and summer. Quickbeam is a great 4-ply cardigan knitting project for winter, so you can finish in time to wear in spring (and then all year round). It's perfect for mindful knitting with plenty of easy stocking stitch for sofa knitting, but with just enough detail in the twisty details of the sleeves and built-in button band to keep your brain engaged. Construction You will start knitting the Quickbeam cardigan flat at the neckband ribbing. The back and sleeve stitches are picked up along one edge, and you'll work compound raglan increases to form the saddle shoulders, body and sleeves, while continuing the neckband ribbing down front edges with v-neck increases. The sleeves are placed on hold while you work the body flat, knitting the buttonholes concurrently. You'll return to the sleeve stitches and knit them in the round to finish. Design inspiration ‘Quickbeam’ is a traditional name for the rowan tree. The colour and texture of the moss stitch panels reminded me of the tree’s beautiful red berries in the autumn.
