Quincy Air Compressor 132 Gallon Rotary Screw Value Package
Quincy 4152021996 QGS-20S 132 Gallon Rotary Screw Air Compressor Value PackageThe claim Quincy makes about this package is a compact air end, and unusually it is a claim you can ch eck. This unit produces 60.9 CFM at a measured 71 dBA. Those two figures together are the interesting part: plenty of machines make that much air, and plenty are that quiet, but the combination is what lets a compressor of this output live in the working area instead of being exiled to a plant room at the far end of the building.71 dBA is conversation volume. You can stand beside this machine and talk to someone without raising your voice, which sounds like a comfort feature until you price the alternative — a separate compressor room, the wall, the ventilation, and thirty or forty feet of extra pipe run between the compressor and the people using the air. Every foot of that pipe is pressure drop you paid for and will never get back.60.9 CFM, and one caveat we are not going to bury60.9 CFM is a full commercial supply. It carries a busy shop's worth of impacts, ratchets and blow guns running at once with headroom left, and it will hold a media blaster or a production spray gun — the applications that expose an undersized compressor within an afternoon. Because the duty cycle is 100%, that figure is what you get all day rather than what you get until the machine needs to cool. The caveat: 60.9 CFM is the figure carried in the copy that has run on this product page, and it is the one we have kept. The unit's own specification metafield records a marginally different value for the same rating. The difference is fractional and will not change what tools you can run, but if you are specifying against a fixed consumption — a machine with a published air requirement, an install being signed off by somebody else — contact us and we will confirm the exact number from the current Quincy datasheet instead of you designing around ours. The air dryer question on this part numberThere is a second disagreement in this product's data, and it is a larger one. The manufacturer's feature list for this package includes an "Integrated Refrigerant Air Dryer", and the description previously on this page described one. The specification table's Air Dryer field reads "No".We will not resolve that by choosing the more attractive answer. If a built-in dryer is part of what you expect for the money, ask us before ordering and we will confirm the configuration against the current factory order sheet. What the specification table does confirm is an aftercooler: the discharge air is cooled and the bulk moisture dropped out as it leaves the airend. That is real moisture control and it is not nothing, but it does not reach the dewpoint a refrigerated dryer achieves, so it should not be read as one.If you already own a dryer and filtration on your header — and many shops upgrading a compressor do — this question may be irrelevant to you. It should still be your call rather than a surprise.Gear drive and continuous runningThe airend is gear driven. Power moves from the motor to the screw element through hardened gears turning in the compressor's own fluid, so there are no belts to tension, no matched set to replace and no slow efficiency loss as a transmission ages. On a machine expected to run continuously that matters more than it would on one that starts a few times an hour, because a slipping belt does not fail loudly — it simply converts a portion of your power bill into heat. The rest of the specification is built around the same assumption. Premium synthetic lubrication rated for 8,000 hours keeps oil carryover low and service intervals long. The motor is TEFC with IP 55 wash-down protection. Wye-Delta reduced-voltage starting keeps inrush current off the supply. Low-oil shutdown covers engine and pump, the fluid filter is a spin-on, and the doors are hinged with detachable panels so that servicing does not begin with an argument. Will it fit, and can your building feed it?The package measures 74 inches long, 30.7 inches wide and 72.2 inches tall and weighs 1,184 lbs. It is tall rather than sprawling, so check door heights and any overhead obstruction on the route in before delivery day. Leave working clearance at the panels. The receiver outlet is 1 inch and your distribution pipework should be sized from there.Power needs settling first. This is a 208-230/460V 3-phase machine with a magnetic starter included. Quincy publishes no amp draw and no recommended breaker size — both fields read "Consult Certified Electrician" — and we are not going to put an estimate where the manufacturer left a deliberate blank. Have a licensed electrician size the service, feeder and disconnect against the nameplate ahead of delivery. Electrical supply, siting and permits are the customer's responsibility.Perfect forBusy multi-bay service shops that want the compressor in the building rather than behind a wall. Fabrication and light production with steady all-day demand. Shops that already run their own air treatment and want the compressor and receiver as one commissioned package. Not an option on single-phase service.Specifications Motor 20 HP, electric, TEFC with IP 55 wash-down protection Free air delivery 60.9 CFM (see the caveat above) Sound level 71 dBA Max pressure 125 PSI Supply 208-230/460V, 3-phase, Wye-Delta start, magnetic starter included Amp draw / breaker Manufacturer states "Consult Certified Electrician" Duty cycle 100% Pump Rotary screw, oil-lubricated, gear drive Aftercooler Fitted Receiver 132 gallon horizontal, 1 inch outlet, no electronic drain valve Dimensions (L x W x H) 74 in x 30.7 in x 72.2 in Weight 1,184 lbs What's includedFrom the manufacturer's feature list and specification table: the gear-driven QGS-20S rotary screw compressor, the Infologic2 Basic Controller with display panel, the TEFC motor with IP 55 wash-down protection, the 132 gallon horizontal receiver, aftercooler, air filter, pressure gauge, oil sight glass, magnetic starter, low-oil shutdown and a spin-on fluid filter. An electronic drain valve is not included. The refrigerant dryer is the disputed item described above — treat it as unconfirmed until we have checked it for you.Shipping and deliveryFreight only, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout against your delivery address. There is no shipping figure printed on this page by design: carrier rates change, and a number frozen into a product description ends up as a complaint rather than a courtesy. The crate weighs over half a ton and stands taller than most roller doors expect, so confirm your unload before it leaves — a dock, a forklift with the capacity for it, or collection at the carrier's terminal. Residential delivery carries a residential fee. Inspect the shipment before signing and write any damage on the bill of lading; a clean signature is the end of the conversation as far as the carrier is concerned.WarrantyStandard recorded cover is 1 Year consumer and 1 Year commercial. An extended 3 Year factory warranty is available, and the True Blue 5-Year warranty applies where a Quincy authorized start-up commissions the unit — a condition of the cover, so book it with the installation rather than afterwards. If a fault develops, shut the machine down and contact us before anything is dismantled. Once a unit has been opened, establishing what failed and when becomes considerably harder, and so does the claim.
