Seiko’s QXM574BRH was the yearly Special Collector’s Edition Melodies in Motion clock for the 2017 holiday season. This year’s edition featured the same “dancing dial” movement as other post-2012 “new age” models but with a different, distinct dial. With a shape inspired by Rhythm’s popular “Encore” series of clocks, the numerals are enclosed in their own individual ovals. As the hour approaches or the demonstration is activated, the 6-piece dial and 3 round figurines come to life as they dance along to the tune of one of 24 total melodies. 6 of these 24 melodies are popular songs from the 1970s, which are hard to find on musical clocks nowadays due to strict copyright laws.
