Rare antique American scrimshaw SEWING THREAD SPOOL stand made circa 1860. Made of whalebone and whale ivory it is inlaid with numerous scribe lines of green and red sealing wax. T hree tiers support thread spools and are held in place with removable whalebone pins. The whale ivory cup on the top may have been designed to hold a pin cushion. Very good condition with a couple of replaced pins. Size: 8.5 inches tall. Note: this item is not available for international sale.
