Rare antique covered Nantucket Lightship Basket by A.D. Williams (1867-1927) circa 1900. Remnants of his hand written paper label on the bottom. Beautifully turned mahogany knob an d a handsome rich deep patina. The typical Williams brass label on the top of the handle is engraved with the owner's name "JEAN EDWARDS" . The cover opens on a single brass hinge. This basket is very similar to the small basket on page 112, plate #49 Seeler's book "Nantucket Lightship Baskets". The size is remarkable, only 5-1/2" diameter by 4-1/2" high (6-1/2" tall with handle). Private Collection - not for sale Show more
