An emulator replaces that fixed orifice behavior with a real valve, and the difference is the single largest improvement available to a damping rod front end. How the Gold Valve Emulators Work The valves drop in on top of the damping rods and are held in place by the main fork springs, so nothing needs welding, drilling or machining. Once in, compression damping becomes tunable: preload and orifice settings can be changed to suit road surface, riding pace and rider weight.
